CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION (17/2/2012)

Creative writing competition was held on the 17th February, 2012 at Orchids-the International School for classes IV and V.
Creative writing is considered to be any   writing, fiction, poetry or non-fiction that goes outside the bounds of academic and technical forms of literature. Works which fall into this category include novels, epics, short stories and poems.
The topics given for the competition were
1.        An interesting weekend.
2.        An interesting book/ story
Students had to choose either of the topics and write in 100-120 words.
Creative writing helped the students to improve their vocabulary and to think in a creative manner.
Students were able to communicate clearly, effectively and imaginatively and improve their writing skills. They were able to organize information and ideas into sequenced sentences with clarity and purpose, accurate punctuation and spelling.
They were able to express their thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Creative writing urges them to read   more, so that they can write better.
